House of Pascoaes

Amarante
Description
The Pascoaes house is located about three kilometers from Amarante in Gatão parish.
What makes the house so special is not only the details of its architectural beauty, its stunning views over the Marão Mountains and its proximity to the river Tamega.
In the early nineteenth century, when Napoleon Bonaparte tried to invade Portugal, the French almost burned down the entire house, saving only the chapel, which the people considered a miracle. The house was rebuilt in the years that followed, and the external appearance of the house is virtually identical since its foundation
